CPU and RAM monitoring on Windows

How to read CPU and memory usage and what is normal.

CPU usage is the share of processing capacity in use. Short spikes are normal; sustained 90–100% with a slow PC suggests a heavy task.

RAM usage is memory in use. Windows deliberately uses spare RAM for caching, so high usage alone is not a problem; slowdowns with RAM near full are.

Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) shows which apps use what. A persistent display such as NetSpeedDisplay keeps the overall numbers visible.
