How to understand RAM usage
Why high memory use is not always a problem.
Windows uses spare memory to cache files, so high RAM use alone is normal. Trouble shows up as slowdowns, apps closing, or constant disk activity while memory is nearly full.
If memory stays near full, close apps you do not need, check Task Manager’s Memory column, and restart apps that grow over time. Adding RAM is the lasting fix on 2 GB machines. See system requirements.
