First-run checklist
A short checklist for your first ten minutes with NetSpeedDisplay: check the display, pick the adapter, set units and make it readable.
After installing or extracting NetSpeedDisplay, run through these checks once.
1. Is the readout visible?
Look beside the notification area on the taskbar. If you do not see it, right-click the tray icon and make sure Show Taskbar Window is ticked. See taskbar display issues.
2. Does it move?
Open a web page or start a download. The values should change. If they stay at zero, open Select Network Connections and try Auto Select. See network adapter selection.
3. Choose units
Pick bytes or bits in Speed unit. Plans are usually in bits, while download managers show bytes. See bytes or bits.
4. Make it readable
Open Appearance and adjust the text color, background and font size until you can read it at a glance. See customization.
5. Choose how it starts
Open Startup and select sign-in, service or manual. See startup settings.
6. Pick your language
Open Language. The default follows your system. See languages.
7. Try the extras
- Hover over the display for totals.
- Click the tray icon to show or hide the floating window.
- Try Always on Top and click-through.
8. Keep it handy
Bookmark the right-click menu reference for later.
