Bytes or bits: MB/s or Mb/s

Choose whether NetSpeedDisplay shows speed in megabytes per second or megabits per second, with an optional short format.

Internet plans are sold in megabits per second (Mb/s), while downloads usually show megabytes per second (MB/s). NetSpeedDisplay lets you pick the one you prefer under Speed unit.

Speed unit submenu with B (Byte) and b (bit)

  • B (Byte): MB/s, matching what browsers and download managers show.
  • b (bit): Mb/s, matching the speed on your internet plan.
  • Short mode for speed display: a more compact readout for small taskbars.

One byte is eight bits, so divide Mb/s by eight to get MB/s. See KB/s, MB/s and Mbps explained.
