A portable network speed monitor that needs no install
Run NetSpeedDisplay from any folder without installing anything. See how portable mode works, what it needs and where its settings live.
Sometimes you cannot or do not want to install software, for instance on a shared PC, a locked-down laptop or a test machine. The portable program solves that.
What you get
The zip contains NetSpeedDisplay.exe (about 0.45 MB) and a language folder. Extract it anywhere and run it. It needs no Visual C++ Redistributable, no .NET and no drivers.
Steps
- Download from the official page and verify the checksum.
- Extract the zip into a folder you can write to.
- Keep the
languagefolder next toNetSpeedDisplay.exe. - Run
NetSpeedDisplay.exe.
Settings can live next to the program, so copying the folder moves your setup. See portable mode.
Where it works
The portable program supports Windows 10 (1809 or later), Windows 11 and also Windows 7 SP1 to 8.1. See compatibility.
Good habits
- Choose a folder that is not protected. A protected folder can stop settings from saving. See settings not saving.
- No administrator rights are needed for portable use.
- To start it with Windows, use the startup menu.
Removing it
There is no installer to remove. Close the program from its tray menu and delete the folder. If you set it to start with Windows, turn that off first. See uninstalling or removing.
Portable or installer?
Use the installer for a permanent setup with a Start menu entry. Use portable for flexibility. Compare them in installer or portable.
